A few years ago I fell in love with an Escada Jacket. Needless to say, I couldn't justify paying $4,000.00 for it, so I decided to copy it. I wish I had saved the picture to show you, but I didn't.
From the picture I was able to figure out how I thought they had made it.
I bought two vibrant colors of Silk Dupioni. The Silk Dupioni is crisp like a taffeta (but quiet), and has numerous slubs for great texture. I love its dry feel ....wish you could touch it.
I took a generic jacket pattern with a raglan sleeve and cut it into sections.
I cut the sections from my fabric and when I sewed the parts together, I did so using black piping in the seams.
I lined the jacket with black polyester which has a feel of silk.
I chose large rather heavy gold buttons.
I have paired the jacket with a monochromatic pant and shell giving my jacket a rich elegant flavor.
